NAMANVE – Four projects worth US$40 million dollars that has created about 1000 jobs in Namave Industrial Park are ready to be commissioned. In a field visit by East African Vanguard, Thursday, 30th, 2021, workers at Kampala Nile Resort were doing final touches on the five-star hotel. The hotel is part of the Mada Hotels operating in East Africa. President Yoweri Museveni was expected to inaugurate the projects but events were called off at the last minute.
“The Namave event has been called of to a later date,” read a post by Lindah Nabusayi, Senior Presidential Press Secretary.
According to Tinu Mhajan the Chief Executive Officer, the US$10 million investment has employed 200 Ugandans but has a capacity to employ 400 people when operating at full capacity.
“Due to Covid-19 were are operating a half capacity. “2020 and 2021 have not been good to us as investors but at least we have tried our best not to cut off our Ugandans workersWe know the situation here and we pledge to continue create more jobs to Ugandans because we work hand in hand with the government to reduce the unemployment gap, “he said.
To mitigate the problem, Mhajan request for government support.
“We’re asking President Museveni to offer us some of these incentives so that we create more jobs for Ugandans” said Mhajan.
Conveniently located between Kampala Central Business District and Mukono District, hotel is expected to cater for over 400-500 guests rooms with executive services when fully operational.
The MADA Group of Hotels currently comprises thirteen properties: eight in Kenya, three in Tanzania and two in Uganda. One more property is under construction in Zanzibar. and is currently operating in Jinja Nile Resort- Jinja, Kampala Nile Resort – Kampala, Fig Tree Camp- Masai Mara, Kilifi Bay Beach- Kilifi, Baobab Sea Lodge-Kilifi, Kilima Safari Camp-Amboseli, The Oakwood Hotel-Nairobi, Hotel La Mada- Nairobi, Hunters Lodge- Kiboko, Adventures Aloft- Masai Mara,Adventures Aloft-Serengeti, Adventures Aloft- Tarangire, Balloon Camp- Tarangire in hotels.
so far the Mada hotels started business in Uganda in 1999 and has grown with Uganda’s economy where it has tried to boost people’s lives in Uganda by offering them jobs.
Other industries to be launched Picfare Uganda Ltd warehouses, Tian Tang Manufacturing warehouses and construction trucks and Crown & Packaging Ltd manufacturrs of packaging materials, crowns and metal tins. It produces crown corks for beverage & beer companies across Uganda like Century Bottling Company, Crown Bottling Company, Uganda Breweries among others.
