KAMPALA – National Resistance Movement (NRM) prominent politician Mohammed Muyanja Mbabali is at a verge of losing property over bank loans. In a public notice issued July 15, 2021, Mbabali has been given 30 days to pay money lent to him or else the properties are sold.
“We have been instructed by MMAKS Advocates on behalf of their client, the registered property, we shall proceed to sell under mentioned property also pictured below by public auction / private treaty after the expire of 30 days from the date of this notice. Thereafter unless the debtor pays all the fees owed to our client plus our fee and cost incurred in the process,” reads the notice by Trust General Auctioneers & Court Bailiff.
The properties; a five storied flat in Mawokota Mpigi, a three storied flat in Masaka Municipality, a three storied apartment in Kyadondo and a 0.0101 hectares plot in Kisugu are registered in MFK Corporations Ltd owned my Mbabali.
The auctioneer has given residents in the properties fourteen days to vacate to facilitate the sell process.
It is not clear how much Mbabali, the former Member of Parliament Bukoto South borrowed and how much the lender is now demanding due to accumulated interest. The auctioneer has also not mentioned the auctioner.
The politician who lives a flamboyant life driving expensive vehicles is said to have used the money to finance the recently concluded elections that he lost in NRM primaries to Abdul Kiyimba Freeman. The constituency was won by National Unity Platform (NUP) Frank Kagabo.
NRM, the ruling party led by its Chairman President Yoweri for 35 years has always spent big during elections a move the opposition claim voter bribery.
Before the last polls, NRM local leaders were given motto bicycles and bicycles to facilitate their transport.
