WAKISO – Wakiso district environment and wetland committee on Thursday, July 21, 2021 made in impromptu visit to various sites to ensure the public follow environment guidelines. The team led by Matia Lwanga Bwanika, the Wakiso district chairman, also had Members of Parliament and district officials.
A spot check at Namulanda Fish Pond Project was impressive according to Bwanika however was concerned on wetland encroachers at Namulanda, Kyengera and Bulenga.
Unlike other site, a visit to Rosebud, flower firm was futile as them were denied entry for not having prior arrangement to receive the large team. They were advised to reschedule for another day.
Bwanika appreciated the company’ support and services rendered towards his people in wakiso but was not happy rescheduling the visit.
“I appreciate the support given by Rosebud to our community and we shall work with them as a district if they continue to respect the National Environment Management Authority guidelines” he said.
Rajiv Rupalleria, directors, Rosebud said the committee was not on appointment and big numbers contrary to Covid-19 guidelines.
“On reconciliation, we have agreed with the district team to sit and find a date when they will visit the firm and make their assessments. We have nothing to hide because we follow all NEMA guidelines as we carry out our work”, said Rajiv.
