Government contracts German firm for security printing

ENTEBBE – Uganda Security Printing Company Ltd (USPC) has signed a contract with Koenig & Bauer Banknote Solutions, one of world’s renown press manufacturer to install printers and related machinery to print government documents.
According to Mr George Mugerwa Managing Director USPC, the imitative is ease government service delivery especially with some of the security document that we being printed abroad.
Mr Alfread Mwumwva Sebahire, Finance Director and Mugerwa signed on behalf of USPC while Mr Thomas Hendle, Managing Director who is also Head of Sales, Koenig & Bauer Banknote Solutions represented his company after the approval of the Attorney General.

“We are now going to be in position to print printing of paper-based products with high quality security features such as cards, visas, academic transcripts and certificates, birth or death certificates, financial instruments (securities, bonds), land title, police forms, and election materials. Card-based products including driving permits, National Social Security Fund cards, National Identity Cards, passports, and others,” he said.
Mugerwa did not disclose the worth of contract but said government will be able to save substantial amount of money when new state-of-the-art security printing factory is complete.
He also urged the supplier to ensure quality products and service.
“I call for good supplies, we are going to be partners for a long time from now,” he said.
Hendle said, Koenig & Bauer Group, the mother company, is the world’s oldest press manufacturer with the broadest product range in the industry, and a key supplier to the global media industry.
“We have been a global provider of high security printing, especially for banknote solutions. Founded as Organisation Giori in 1952, Koenig & Bauer Banknote Solutions has been part of the Koenig & Bauer group since 2001. All of our clients have been satisfied and we shall bring a smile to your face,” said Hendle.
He was later conducted around the USPC new office and factory which Mugerwa revelled who employ over 350 Ugandan.
“We anticipate this factory to be fully operation by June 2027,” Mugerwa said.
