Fire Guts Furniture Workshop

KAMPALA – Police have launched an investigation into the cause of a fire that gutted a furniture workshop and a flat at Kubiri near Wandegeya Monday, 1st January 2024. According to Patrick Onyango, Police deputy spokesperson, a team of security experts are looking into the circumstances of the fire.

“We do not have the details of the fire but our team is investigating the matter,” he said.

James Mukasa, one of the affected businessmen said the fire destroyed property worth millions of shillings.

He said the fire started from a welder who thought he could contain it and did not alert his neighbors.

The Police Fire Brigade managed to put out the fire.

While details regarding the cause of the fire remain scanty.

Meanwhile, Kampala Central Division Mayor Salim Uhuru has urged property owners to have firefighting equipment to avert damages caused by fire outbreaks.
