NWSC notifies public of water shortage

KAMPALA – Several parts of the country are to experience water shortage due to several infrastructure repairs, National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has announced.
On its X handle, NWSC posted, “Dear Valued Customers, National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) wishes to inform you that the Kagera Water Treatment Plant will be temporarily shut down for 12 days, from Thursday, 1 October 2026 to Monday, 12 October 2026. This planned shutdown is to allow system reconfiguration works at Kagera Water Works, aimed at improving service to our customers.”
It further posted, “Affected Areas Katete Central, Rwemirinzi, Karugangama, Bihunya, Kitebero, Rubeho, Karubanda, Kabaare Villages I–VII, Kashenyi, Rwakiruri, Masha Sub- County, Nyamisindo, Kaberebere Town Council, Nyakakoni, Kacence, Lubiri, Rwobuyenje, Rwebishuri, Nyakiziba, Nyakabungo, Butagatsi and the surrounding areas. Customers are advised to store sufficient water in advance and use it sparingly during this period. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and cooperation as these works are undertaken. Thank you.”
In another development, there is to be water supply interruption along Entebbe Road.
“We wish to inform our valued customers and the general public that there will be interruptions in water supply today, Wednesday, 30 September 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This is due to an emergency power shutdown by the supplier, Uganda Electricity Company Limited (UEDCL).”
“Affected areas: Airport, Kigungu, Entebbe Town, Nakiwogo, Banga, Nakasamba, Nsamizi, Busambaga, Katabi, Lunyo, Manyago, Kitubulu, Abaita Ababiri, Kabale, Kitinda, Bubuuli, Mpala, Nkumba, Kasenyi Road, Garuga Road, Kitala, Kisubi, Kawuku, Bwerenga, Bugiri, Namulanda, Bwebajja, Akright City, Lutembe, Bweya, Bulonde, Janyi, Dewe, Ziru, Wamala, Buzi, Sisa, Kitende and surrounding areas. Note: It takes time for the system to stabilize after a total plant shutdown. Customers are advised to use the available water sparingly during this interruption. We apologise for the inconvenience,” the notice reads.
