Coach Paul Put summons squad for South Africa, Congo games
Uganda Cranes Head Coach Paul Put has summoned the squad that will play the final two games of the 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers this month.
Uganda will take on South Africa at home (Mandela National Stadium) on 15th November 2024 before visiting Congo four days later.
The two games present a chance for Uganda to seal qualification to AFCON 2025 with a point needed from the possible six.
Coach Put explained why he has summoned four goalkeepers this time, with the inclusion of Mutwalibi Mugolofa who plies his trade at KCCA FC.
“We are aware that CHAN is around the corner and we have games against Burundi next month. So I needed to have him (Mugolofa) around the setup and also get training sessions with the goalkeeping coach. He has been performing well in the League and maybe next time we will summon another goalkeeper.” He said.
The Team will enter the residential camp on Sunday at Cranes Paradise, Kisasi with foreign-based players joining as and when they arrive in the country.
Uganda tops Group K on 10 points, two ahead of South Africa while Congo and South Sudan have four and zero points respectively.
