First Lady and Minister for Education Janet Kataha Museveni has told youth to get involved in government programmes.
“It is crucial for our young people to engage in government programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, and Youth and Women empowerment programs, which focus on achieving financial inclusion at the household level,” she posted on X July 31, 2024.
She presiding over the launch of Ms. Aisha Tashobya’s music album, “Museveni Uganda N’ekikwenda”.
“I encourage artists to take an active role in advocating for these programs and using their creative platforms to promote awareness. I would like to acknowledge the President’s contribution of Shs20 million towards the launch of Ms. Tashobya’s music album. This support demonstrates the recognition of artists’ contributions to the community and the importance of uplifting and celebrating their work. While there are many positive influences, I believe it is also important to address the issue of artists imitating foreign lifestyles that may not align with Uganda’s values,” she posted.
Kataha said she admires the Ugandan artists for using their talents to positively impact the community and contribute to national development.
“It is inspiring to see artists like Aisha Tashobya utilizing their gifts and acting as role models for the younger generation. I hope to see more artists following suit and using their influence to bring about positive change. I encourage artists to be mindful of their influence and to promote positive behaviour, culture, and language through their work. Cultural and educational songs play an important role in preserving the country’s history and educating the youth about the nation’s past,” she further posted.
She urged artists to continue creating content that reflects Uganda’s rich cultural heritage and history.
“I appreciate the efforts of Aisha and other artists in highlighting the achievements of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government, especially in promoting peace, democracy, education, infrastructure, and empowerment programs. It is important to recognize and celebrate these accomplishments through artistic expression,” she said.
