Lt Gen Muhanga tips UPDF in South Sudan

SOUTH SUDAN – Lieutenant General Kayanja Muhanga, Commander of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Land Force, has called on Ugandan troops deployed in South Sudan to uphold unwavering discipline and maintain peak combat readiness through ongoing training.
Addressing personnel serving under Operation ‘Mulinzi wa Kimya,’ Lt Gen Muhanga stressed that vigilance, training, and discipline are foundational to the UPDF’s operational ethos.
“These are key pillars of UPDF’s core values,” he stated.

The mission is currently under the command of Brigadier General Anthony Lukwago Mbuusi, who accompanied Lt Gen Muhanga during the troop engagements.
Lt Gen Muhanga praised the contingent’s contribution to regional peace and stability. “Your efforts in maintaining security in South Sudan are commendable and reflect the UPDF’s dedication to peacekeeping in the region,” he noted.
During his visit, the Commander Land Force also held a high-level meeting with General Paul Nang Majok, Chief of the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF), reaffirming the strong defence cooperation between Uganda and South Sudan. The two leaders reiterated their nations’ shared commitment to ensuring peace and stability across the region.
Also present were senior UPDF officers, including Brig Gen Anthony Lukwago Mbuusi, Contingent Commander; Colonel Benard Kashemeza, BG Commander; Colonel Albert Kashakamba, Director of Intelligence – Land Force; Colonel JM Kabila; and Lieutenant Colonel Alex Habyoona, Joint Task Force Information Officer.
