Thousands benefit from free medical camp

BUSIA – Over one thousand five hundred locals in Busia district have received free medical treatment during a two days medical camp organized by BILP Initiative Uganda, Clarke International University and C-Care Foundation, the charitable arm of C-Care Uganda (formerly International Medical Group) at St Paul Syamalede Church of Uganda.
Speaking to The East African Vangaurd Sunday September 7th, 2024 Asobola Prudence, Project Manager C – Care Foundation said disease burden in Busia district is high that needs urgent attention.
“Day one we served over five hundred and today (Sunday 7th, 2024) we expect a bigger number. Our medical team has found many cases of pressure, diabetes, HIV/Aids, malnutrition and many other diseases. It Is unfortunate that many people in Busia district do not know their health status,” she said.

Asobola said the NGO that has been dedicated for over 28 years providing quality healthcare, treatment, and disease prevention services to vulnerable communities across the country choice Busia due high demand for health care.
Wanyama James Magero founder and chief executive Director of BILP Initiative Uganda said he mobilised Samia health workers from the district to offer free service to the community as corporate social responsibility.
He pledged to organize more medical camps including in the nearby districts of Namayingo and Bugiri when resources are available and also build a hospital in the area as a long-term solution to the health challenge in the area.
Magero revealed that the NGO has made remarkable impact in the lives of more than 10,000 children who have been reached directly and indirectly through its various development interventions in the sectors of education, health, and livelihood, environment and youth development.
Some of the locals hailed the organisers and the government for the enabling environment for the medical camp ending peacefully.
