UPDF to recruits 600 Local Defence Personnel

MBUYA – Uganda Peoples Defence Force is to recruit 600 Local Defence Personnel in Bunyoro and Rwenzori sub regions to boost security in the areas following the recent attacks on police and army barracks that has left over 30 people dead.
According to Major General Felix Kulayigye, Director Defence Public Information, the recruitment starts on November 10th at Kabarole district Boma grounds.
“On November 11th, 2025, the exercise takes place at Kamwenge district head quaters, November 12th, 2025 at Bunyangabo district, November 13th, 2025 at Kasese district on November 14th, 2025 at Bundibugyo district and November 15th, 2025 at Ntoroko district,” he said in a press statement issued Tuesday 4th November.
Major General Kulayigye said, “Eligible candidates must be Ugandans with national identity card, aged between 18 to 35 years, have attainted Uganda Certificate of Education or its equivalent, handwritten application endorsed by Local Council 1, 11, and 111 Chairpersons, Gombolola Internal Security Officer or the District Internal Security Officer. Aspirants must be residents of the particular districts, disciplined, and with no criminal record.”
Add, “Any presentation of forged documents is criminal, and culprits will be liable to prosecution. Applicants are advised to individually report at the respective districts’ recruitment centres for physical and medical interviews. The UPDF leadership calls upon all eligible candidates to take advantage of this opportunity to serve in the UPDF and wishes those who will succeed in this exercise good luck in their military careers, where patriotism, nationalism and Pan-Africanism are the basis of our service to all. The recruitment follows the recently coordinated armed attacks that rocked parts of Western Uganda with the death toll now at 32 according to Daily Monitor.
