KAMPALA — If the energy at the Kyambogo Freshers Ball is anything to go by, the new academic year has started on a high note. Bell Citrus joined the party as a beverage sponsor, bringing an interactive brand experience to the Kyambogo University Grounds that gave students plenty of reasons to pause, play, and make memories before heading back to the dance floor.
The university activations are not a build-up to Obafest; they are an independent platform called the Bell Citrus Zesty Campus Tours.
At the heart of Bell Citrus’ presence was an experience designed to make the party even more engaging. Life-sized Ludo, checkers, and Jenga games drew groups of students eager to test their skills, while virtual experiences offered another way to get involved. For many revellers, the trip to the main stage came with a pit stop at the Bell experience, where friends gathered to compete, take photos, and capture moments from the night.
And the main stage certainly delivered. YKee Benda, Mun G, Karol Kasita and Kapeke were among the night’s highlights, treating the crowd to performances that kept students singing along and moving to the music. Evelyn MC and MC Benjhi and the DJ’s of the night picked up where the live acts left off, serving up mixes that kept the dance floor busy well into the early hours of the morning.
Speaking about the partnership, Lillian Kansiime, representative of Uganda Breweries Limited, said Bell Citrus wanted to be part of the moments that make campus life memorable.
“University is an exciting chapter filled with new friendships, new experiences and plenty of stories to tell. We wanted Bell Citrus to be part of that excitement by creating an experience students could enjoy with their friends, even before the music took over. Seeing them gather around the games, capture photos and enjoy the atmosphere was a great reflection of what these social occasions are all about,” she said.
She added that the excitement at Kyambogo was a great reflection of bringing people together through shared social experiences.
“The Bell Citrus Zesty Campus Tours are about bringing people together through the things they love. Our goal is to celebrate the beers at the heart of these social experiences. Following the incredible energy we saw during our regional activations in Gulu, we were delighted to bring that standard, scale, and youthful energy to Kyambogo to celebrate the excitement of a new academic journey,” said Kansiime.
The Kyambogo Freshers Ball formed a highlight on the university’s social calendar, welcoming students into an environment where they could connect, celebrate, and build lasting memories.
For first-year students, it offers an opportunity to meet new people, build friendships outside the lecture room, and begin finding their place in campus life. For continuing students, it is a chance to reconnect with friends and welcome the newest members of the university community. Judging by the turnout and the energy on the night, the freshers have wasted little time getting into the spirit of university life.
With new friendships made, photos captured and a few friendly game rivalries settled, the freshers have already started building their university stories. If the energy at last night’s party is anything to go by, they have plenty to look forward to in the months ahead.
The next date to mark on the calendar is November 17, when Bell Obafest returns with an even bigger celebration. For the students who have only just begun their university journey, the invitation is simple. Bring your friends, bring your energy, and get ready for another memorable night.
