ABOKE – Police in North Kyoga Region and Kole Central Police Station have in custody four suspects for the alleged conspiracy and gang rape of a 17-year-old, female juvenile and assault of two male friends. Those beaten were escorting the rape victim back home, from a disco, on the 9th June 2024 at around 3am, at Ocokan cell, Akwirididi Ward in Aboke Town Council.
“The findings gathered indicate that the victim left the disco, in the company of her two male friends, who were escorting her home. They were, however, attacked by a group of men, who assaulted the two boys and chased them, leaving the girl victim behind. Immediately after, they grabbed the victim and took her to the house of their accomplice, called Okot, where they gang-raped her,” said Fred Enanga, Police Spokesperson.
Adding, “The victim was, however, rescued by police and the LCI Chairperson, who swiftly responded, after getting a complaint from one of the victim’s male friend. They surrounded the home and arrested the four suspects, red-handed with the victim. These include; Okello Martin, a 23-year-old, resident of Akaidebe “A” cell, Kibwota Bernard, a 25-year-old, resident of Atek village, Otiang Patrick aged 23, from Akaidebe village and Nam Aron, a 20-year-old, resident of Akaidebe.”
Enanga said the victim was rushed to Aboke Hospital for Post-rape treatment.
“Efforts are in place to trace for Okot, the owner of the house and other accomplices. We are treating the matter as a priority and are pursuing all leads, including DNA and other scientific tests, against the samples taken from the victim and suspects.”
Enanga said police remain committed to pursuing every incident of sexual violence against the girl child.
“And further ensure that the perpetrators are punished before the courts of law,” he further explained.
