BUDIPE – Minister of the Presidency Babirye Milly Babalanda has declared her candidature to contest for Budiope West, constituency Buyende district on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket. However, this status stands if president’s most influential ministers win the NRM primary election.
Quoting the bible exodus chapter 18 verse 21, Babalanda said, “select capable women from all the people who fear God, trustworthy, who hate dishonest gain and appoint them as officials over thousands, and hundreds” Leadership should be chosen based on integrity, capability and reverence for God. Hon. @millybabalanda for Budiope West.”
When contacted by East African Vanguard, Babalanda an Ex Official in Parliament said she is ready to serve her people with honesty and integrity other leaders have failed.
Born on 5th December 1970, she became Minister of the Presidency in the Cabinet of Uganda under President Yoweri Museveni in June 2021.
Babalanda is expected to face off with the incumbent Kyoto Ibrahim Mululi who won the 2021 election in the constituency on NRM ticket with 14,887 votes. Efforts to have a comment from Mr Kyoto were fruit as he could not answer his mobile phone.
